The murder of a 12-year-old primary school student (initials NU) in an abandoned house in Makassar, South Sulawesi (Sulsel), has been solved. The suspect, identified as IK (19), brutally assaulted the victim until she lost consciousness before raping her.

“This is the first opportunity I have to report a premeditated murder preceded by the rape of a 12-year-old child. It is truly devastating for us all,” said Makassar City Police Chief Kombes Arya Perdana to reporters in Makassar, as reported by detikSulsel on Wednesday (27/5/2026).

The tragic incident began when the suspect dragged the victim into an abandoned house in Tallo, Makassar, on Tuesday (26/5) evening, then covered her mouth with cloth. Not only was her mouth covered, but her chest was pressed down forcefully until she lost consciousness.

“The victim was gagged with cloth. Her chest was pressed hard, causing her head to hit something, and while still alive, she was raped,” Arya explained.

The victim’s body was discovered by residents the following day in a horrific state, naked and with her head covered by a broken television inside the abandoned house on Wednesday (27/5).

For this brutal and inhumane act, Makassar City Police confirmed they would charge suspect IK with premeditated murder, carrying the most severe legal consequences.

“We are charging him under Article 459 for premeditated murder and subsidiary Article 458, with a maximum penalty of death or 20 years imprisonment,” Arya stated.
