Brutal rape and murder of Makassar primary schoolgirl by neighbour, head covered with broken TV

Police have uncovered the horrific details behind the murder of a 12-year-old primary schoolgirl, identified as NU, in Makassar, South Sulawesi. The victim was also subjected to sexual violence before being found dead in an unused toilet.

Police Chief of Makassar City, Commissioner Arya Perdana, confirmed the suspect had raped the victim. “Correct,” he told reporters on Thursday, 28 May 2026.

Arya explained that the suspect, identified as IK (19), was the victim’s neighbour and had been targeting her prior to the attack.

The case came to light following a thorough crime scene investigation and intensive inquiry by Makassar City Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit and Tallo Police Station’s Criminal Investigation Unit.

Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect initially asked the victim to buy mineral water and biscuits on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. Upon her arrival with the items, he dragged her to an empty house.

“The victim was specifically targeted by the suspect,” Arya stated.

At the scene, the victim attempted to resist, but the suspect silenced her by covering her mouth and inflicting physical violence.

“The victim tried to fight back, but her head was struck against a surface and her chest was pressed down,” he said.

Police stated the suspect then brutally sexually assaulted the victim, causing severe injuries. While she was still alive, he allegedly carried out further sadistic acts to kill her. The victim was later found dead in an unused toilet in a horrifying state.

“The suspect was subsequently detained and confessed to his actions,” Arya added.

Previously, the victim’s family had searched for NU since Tuesday evening around 8:00 PM WITA, as she typically returned home by then. However, the search until early morning yielded no results.

The victim was discovered by locals at around 5:00 AM WITA on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, naked and lifeless, with a broken television placed on her head inside an abandoned house. During the crime scene investigation, police encountered a commotion near the site, which was later confirmed to involve the suspect.
