Brutal Murder of Sleeping Ride-Hailing Driver in Tangerang: Suspect Arrested

A ride-hailing driver, identified by the initials ATP, was murdered in a basecamp in the Kosambi area of Tangerang. The suspect, Rahmat Dimas, has been arrested by police for the brutal act. The stabbing occurred on Sunday (12/7/2026) at 03.50 WIB when the victim was sleeping. The suspect stole the victim’s Honda PCX motorcycle and mobile phone. According to police, the victim died at the scene from stab wounds to the neck. Rahmat Dimas was arrested on Tuesday (14/7/2026) at 00.30 WIB at a rented house on Jalan Bunderan Kamal, Kamal Muara, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. He resisted arrest and was shot by officers. During interrogation, the suspect claimed he was under pressure from his parents to marry and initially intended to use the knife to end his own life. However, upon seeing the victim sleeping next to an unattended motorcycle, he decided to steal it. When the victim woke up and resisted, the suspect stabbed him. Rahmat Dimas has been named a suspect and detained. He is charged under Articles 459, 458, and 479 Paragraph 3 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, covering premeditated murder, murder, and violent theft resulting in death.
