Brutal Mob Attacks Motorist After Request to Open Road Blockade

A motorist has been beaten by a mob, suffering facial swelling and other injuries, after asking for a road blockade to be opened. Adnan, 30, was driving when the blockade — a road control that the public is entitled to use — blocked the route. The incident occurred on the Tente-Parado intersection, in Desa Tangga, Kecamatan Monta, Kabupaten Bima, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.

“The incident happened this afternoon,” said Monta Police Sector Chief AKP Sudarto on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.

Adnan is a resident of Desa Nata, Kecamatan Palibelo, Kabupaten Bima. He said the victim has reported the alleged assault to Polres Bima on the same day.

“For more details please confirm with Polres Bima, because the victim has officially lodged a report there earlier,” he said.

Chronology of the Assault

Separately, Adnan said the incident began when he and his wife were travelling to Desa Simpasai by car. Upon arriving at Desa Tangga, their journey was halted by a crowd of residents who had blocked the road with rocks and wooden planks.

“Seeing the road closure, I got out of the car. My wife remained inside,” he said.

Adnan then asked that the blocked road be opened because it affected road users, including himself.

“I asked politely for the road closure to be opened promptly. Because we could not pass and it would cause a long traffic jam,” he explained.

However, the request was not accepted by the residents. He claimed that suddenly several people assaulted him. He was chased while trying to escape from the crowd.

“I was beaten by many people until I sustained scrapes and swelling around the eye and bruising on my shoulder,” he said.

Following the incident, Adnan said he has reported the case to Polres Bima. He hopes the report will be acted on promptly and that the perpetrators will be arrested.
