Bruno Paraiba Officially Leaves Persebaya Surabaya Ahead of 2026/2027 Season
PT DSI Persero will fully handle export functions from January 2027.
The brief partnership between Persebaya Surabaya and Brazilian striker Bruno Paraiba has officially ended. The 31-year-old announced his departure from the Bajul Ijo squad via his personal social media account on Sunday (24 May), right after the current season concluded.
This decision marks the end of his five-month stint at Gelora Bung Tomo, with fitness issues due to a long-term injury reportedly the main reason management and coaching staff chose not to extend his contract for the 2026/2027 Super League season.
In his post, Bruno revealed he suffered a serious injury in January 2026, forcing him to miss nearly two months. Despite returning to play, discussions with the coach and management led to an agreement not to continue the partnership.
“After speaking with the coach and management, it was decided that the club will not continue the collaboration with me,” Bruno wrote on Instagram @brunoparaiba9. He also expressed deep gratitude to Bonek and Bonita for their support during his difficult recovery.
Despite his short tenure, Bruno Paraiba recorded impressive efficiency as a super sub. His standout performance came when Persebaya thrashed Semen Padang 7-0, scoring a hat-trick as a substitute to showcase his sharpness in front of goal.
Losing Bruno Paraiba leaves Persebaya with one foreign player slot vacant in the forward line. Bajul Ijo’s management is expected to move quickly to find a successor with better physical resilience for the upcoming busy schedule.
Bruno concluded his statement by wishing Persebaya future success. “I remain very grateful for all the experiences I’ve had here and I wish the best for everyone involved with the club.”
Persebaya Surabaya closed the season with a 5-0 victory over Persik Kediri. Bernardo Tavares praised the players’ dominance and their record of six consecutive clean sheets.
Persebaya Surabaya thrashed Semen Padang 7-0 at H. Agus Salim Stadium. Bruno Moreira scored a hat-trick, with Francisco Rivera and Arief Catur also netting goals.
Persebaya Surabaya secured a 7-0 win against Semen Padang in the BRI Super League 2025/2026. The victory propelled Bajol Ijo to fourth in the standings, ending an 11-year negative streak.
The Persis vs Persebaya match ended in a 0-0 draw. Persebaya remained fifth in the standings, while Persis Solo continued to struggle near the bottom.
