Bruneian National Dies Following Assault by Celebrity Influencer in Jakarta

JAKARTA — Bruneian national MHF (30) sustained head and shoulder injuries after being assaulted by influencer MIA in Blok M, South Jakarta on Wednesday, 6 May 2026. Unit Chief 1 of the Resmob Sub-Directorate under the Criminal Investigation Directorate of Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kompol Dimitri Mahendra, said the victim suffered a fatal blow to the back of the head. “The medical records indicate a blow to the back of the head, hematoma in the left eye and injury to the left collarbone,” Dimitri stated on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. He was declared dead after 10 days of treatment on Saturday, 16 May 2026. “MHF died at the hospital on 16 May 2026,” Dimitri said. Two days after the incident, friends who had stayed with the victim at a hotel in the Blok M area reported the case to the police. Police Station Chief of Metro Kebayoran Baru, AKBP Nugrahadi Kusuma said the victim’s family is all in Brunei Darussalam, so the friends filed the report on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. “The victim’s friends filed a police report at our station with a power of attorney from the family. We have handled it and interviewed witnesses at the scene, confirming the incident occurred,” Nugrahadi stated during an interview at the South Jakarta Police Headquarters on Tuesday. Nugrahadi added that the suspect and victim knew each other, and both are Bruneian nationals. However, police are still investigating whether the suspect and victim stayed at the same hotel. “The suspect is being held at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters,” he said. The suspect is currently undergoing further questioning, while police coordinate with South Jakarta Immigration Office for further action.
