HIROSHIMA (AFP): Brunei have withdrawn from the Hiroshima
Asian Games football tournament reducing the number of
participating teams to 21, organizers said yesterday.
Twenty two teams were divided into five groups for the
qualifying round at the drawing held here last month and Brunei
was originally scheduled to play Qatar, Japan and Burma in Group
E.
The organizing committee said it will consult the Asian
Football Confederation whether to hold a new draw as Group E has
only three teams while Group A and B have five each.
