A 30-year-old Brunei national identified as MHF died after being assaulted and struck on the head with a bottle in Blok M, South Jakarta. Police have arrested the suspect, another Brunei national named Mohamad Irman Ali, 33, known as influencer Woodyrman.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, at 3:30 AM WIB. In circulating videos, the victim and suspect were seen exchanging verbal arguments.

Several individuals attempted to intervene in the altercation. The argument continued until the victim was struck with a bottle, causing him to collapse at the scene.

“Indeed, a suspected criminal assault resulting in the victim’s death occurred in the Blok M, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta area,” said Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Public Relations Officer Commissioner Budi Hermanto to journalists on Tuesday, 26 May.

Budi stated the victim was initially at the location with witnesses, followed by other individuals who sat and conversed with him.

“At approximately 3:28 AM WIB, the suspect arrived at the scene with a companion in a vehicle. Upon exiting, the suspect carried a black paper bag suspected to contain glass bottles before approaching the victim, leading to a verbal altercation at the Blok M Hub entrance,” he explained.

The dispute escalated until the suspect struck the victim with a glass bottle, causing him to fall.

“The suspect is believed to have struck the victim once on the head with a paper bag containing glass bottles, causing him to fall,” he added.

The victim was rushed to hospital after collapsing. Despite medical treatment, he was declared dead on 16 May 2026 at RSPP.

“After the incident, the victim was taken to a nearby accommodation before being transferred to RSPP for medical treatment. However, his condition deteriorated, leading to his death on 16 May 2026,” Budi said.

Police recently arrested Woodyrman in the early hours of Monday, 25 May, in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.

“Yes, the influencer Woodyrman. The suspect has been taken to Jakarta Metropolitan Police for further investigation,” he said.

Assistant Commissioner Resa Fiardi Marasabessy of Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Resmob unit stated the arrest followed a series of investigations. Police also secured evidence, including CCTV footage from the scene.

“Based on the investigation, the team successfully identified the suspect, leading to his arrest,” Ressa said.

The suspect faces charges under Article 466(3) and/or Article 468(2) of Indonesia’s Criminal Code (KUHP) for assault causing death.
