Brunei Influencer Charged Over Fatal Blok M Assault of Foreign National

Jakarta, VIVA – The assault case involving Brunei Darussalam social media influencer Mohamad Irman Ali, known as Woodyrman, continues to attract public attention after a fellow Bruneian national died following an incident in the Blok M area of South Jakarta.

The viral social media incident has now entered serious legal proceedings after police officially named Woodyrman as a suspect.

The fatal incident occurred at Blok M Hub in Kebayoran Baru in the early hours. Initial investigations reveal the altercation began with a misunderstanding between the suspect and a witness at the scene.

The situation escalated when the victim, identified as MHF, attempted to defend his friend, leading to a verbal confrontation between the victim and the perpetrator.

Police stated that before the meeting, the victim sent a voice message challenging the suspect. Upon meeting, tensions rose, culminating in fatal violence.

‘This incident began with a misunderstanding between the suspect and a witness. The victim tried to defend the witness, leading to a verbal clash between him and the suspect,’ said Polda Metro Jaya’s Head of Public Relations, Commissioner General Budi Hermanto.

According to police, Woodyrman was allegedly under the influence of alcohol during the incident. In a fit of rage, he struck the victim’s head with his right hand, which was holding a paper bag containing a glass bottle. The blow caused the victim to fall heavily at the scene.

‘As a result of the assault, the victim fell at the scene, received medical treatment, and was later declared dead,’ Budi added.

The victim received intensive care following the incident but succumbed to his injuries days later. The case has drawn widespread attention due to the involvement of fellow foreign nationals and a Bruneian social media personality.

Polda Metro Jaya swiftly apprehended Woodyrman in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. Following a series of interrogations and case review, his legal status was formally elevated to suspect in a case of assault leading to death.
