Brunei Airways to London

YANGON (Reuter): Brunei Airways will begin a Brunei-London flight in October, Myanmar's official media reported on Saturday.

State-run newspapers said Royal Brunei Airways general manager George Tan made the announcement at a meeting with Hotel and Tourism Minister Lieutenant-General Kyaw Ba on Friday.

Tan said a Boeing 767 will make a twice-weekly Brunei-Yangon- Abu Dhabi-London flight.

Myanmar has designated 1996 as "Visit Myanmar (Burma) Year" and expects up to 500,000 tourists to visit the country. According to official statistics, about 100,000 tourists visited Myanmar last year.

Six airlines currently fly between Yangon (Rangoon) and foreign destinations.
