Bruises Found on Abdomen and Legs of Pemalang Boy Who Died Following Alleged Bullying by Seniors
A young boy named Aqib (7) has died following alleged bullying by older students in Kebondalem, Pemalang. The second-grade student at SDN 1 Kebondalem had previously been hospitalised for nine days and experienced difficulty walking.
The victim’s mother, Diah Indriyante (36), revealed that her son had been treated at RSUD Dr Azhari Pemalang since Thursday (17/9) before being discharged nine days later. However, the child ultimately passed away on Wednesday (30/9) afternoon while being transported back to the hospital.
“On Thursday the 17th, he was hospitalised for nine days. He was home for three days, and then yesterday, we intended to take him back to the hospital, but that is how it happened (he passed away),” Diah said when met at the family home, as reported on Thursday (1/10/2026).
Diah continued, noting that her son had changed from being a cheerful child to becoming very quiet. Furthermore, he only disclosed the full extent of the bullying to the examining doctor.
“I just felt that his eating and daily patterns had changed. The child was usually cheerful but became quiet,” she said. “He only shared the details after being examined by the doctor.”
She stated that there were bruises on her son’s abdomen and legs. “There were bruises on the abdomen and legs, blue and bruised,” she said.
“During the three days at home, the child felt pain and complained of abdominal pain,” Diah added. She also noted that he had difficulty walking due to the condition of his legs and abdomen.
“If he was lifted, he would complain of pain,” she said.
Died En Route to Hospital
After being brought home for three days, Diah stated that Aqib’s condition worsened. Consequently, they attempted to take him back to the doctor on Wednesday. However, during the journey, the child had already passed away.
“Our hope as parents is that it ends with Aqib. Let others not suffer this. I may feel resigned or not, because (my child) was not sick. So I feel… why wasn’t he sick, why did it happen so suddenly?” Diah expressed.
Separately, the Head of Criminal Investigation at Pemalang Police, AKP M Wildan Umar, stated that the authorities have received reports regarding the alleged bullying. Aqib’s body has undergone an autopsy at RSUD M Azhari.
