Brown grass forces change of venue
KUALA LUMPUR (AP): Brown grass has forced a change of stadium
for men's soccer matches in the Southeast Asian Games.
The Shah Alam Stadium on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur has
been attacked by grass mites, leaving parts of the pitch brown
and too unsightly for television coverage, the Asian Football
Confederation and organizers determined Thursday.
The matches will be moved the smaller Petaling Jaya Municipal
Council Stadium in the Kuala Lumpur suburbs, Malaysian media
reported Friday. Women's matches shall be moved from the
municipal stadium to a venue in Cheras, another suburb.
