Brother of Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Caught in KPK Sting Operation

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) secured the brother of Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo during a sting operation. He was taken to Jakarta for examination.

This was confirmed by KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo. The brother of Gatut Sunu is Jatmiko, a member of the Tulungagung DPRD.

“It is true (one of the other parties taken to Jakarta is the regent’s brother),” Budi told reporters on Saturday (11/4).

The KPK secured 18 people as part of a series of closed investigation activities in the East Java region. Of the total, 13 were taken to Jakarta today in stages.

“First stage, the regent, arrived this morning. Then this afternoon, the second stage team is bringing eleven people, and the third stage is bringing one person,” Budi said.

The secured parties will undergo further examination at the KPK Merah Putih Building.

“In addition to securing the parties, the team also secured evidence in the form of cash,” he explained.

Gatut is the Regent of Tulungagung for the 2025-2030 period after winning the 2024 regional election with his deputy, Ahmad Baharudin.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) recorded that the Gatut Sunu Wibowo-Ahmad Baharudin pair won the 2024 Tulungagung regional election with 50.72 percent of the votes.

He was previously a PDIP cadre but left and joined the Gerindra Party before the election. Gatut previously served as Deputy Regent of Tulungagung from 2019-2023. He is also known as a building materials shop entrepreneur.
