Brother killed over a parrot
JAKARTA (JP): An employee of the Bogasari flour mill in North Jakarta was killed by his own brother yesterday because of an argument over a pet bird.
Anton Matindas, aged 25, also known as Toni, died of stab wounds received to the left side of his chest at the hand of his younger brother Roni Matindas, 22, at their house on Jl. B. Lagoa Terusan Gg. V/C 12, North Jakarta, at 7:30 a.m., during a fight over a parrot.
Toni's mother, Rodiah, 50, said that Roni had tried to sell the parrot, which had been bought by the father of the family and kept by Toni. She said Roni had wanted to sell the bird because he needed money to support the family.
Rodiah said that Roni, the fourth of 10 children, killed Anton with a knife he already had with him when the fight began.
Maj. Bachtiar Tambunan, who arrested Roni, said that the knife was found 200 meters from the spot where the murder was carried out. (05)
