He added that the review would cover aspects including oversight of vehicle operational fitness, tourism service providers’ commitment to safety standards, and emergency preparedness and coordination.
Additionally, rapid response mechanisms and evacuation procedures during incidents in the tourist area are part of the discussions.
BB TNBTS also fully supports the police investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. “This will allow necessary corrective measures to be implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future,” he said.
The authority also expressed condolences to the victims and affected families.
“We extend our condolences to the victims and their families regarding the accident,” he stated.
The accident occurred on Friday on the route to Mount Bromo, specifically at the Letter S bend in Wonokitri Village, Tosari District, Pasuruan Regency, East Java.
Two people died: the jeep driver, identified as MS, and a tourist, YWA. Three other passengers, ZH, FR, and FNN, sustained injuries.
According to Pasuruan Police, the accident began when the jeep, registration BG 1478 EF, was travelling north to south. Upon reaching the site, the vehicle allegedly lost control, hit a cliff, and overturned.
