Bromo Glass Bridge Set to Open During End-of-June School Holidays
The Bromo Glass Bridge will be opened to the public during the school holiday season at the end of June 2026, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Agency (BB TNBTS) as the asset owner and CV Sinergi Permata Semesta as the operator.
Head of BB TNBTS Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha stated that all leased assets would be utilised for nature tourism activities as part of the agency’s commitment to improving visitor services. The lease agreement is valid for five years, from 11 June 2026 to 10 June 2031, and covers a 2,429-square-metre plot of land designated for the glass bridge area, a 791-square-metre shuttle area and supporting facilities, and a 360-square-metre pedestrian bridge with a glass floor structure on a district collector road.
Rudijanta explained that the asset utilisation follows the handover of the Bromo Glass Bridge management from the Ministry of Public Works to the Ministry of Forestry in October 2025. He noted that the infrastructure was built to support the development of a national strategic tourism area while strengthening the appeal of nature-based tourism within the conservation zone.
The management of the bridge also represents a synergy between BB TNBTS and the Probolinggo Regency Government to develop a sustainable flagship destination. This collaboration is expected to optimise area management, enhance tourism service quality, and deliver broader economic benefits to local communities without compromising conservation principles.
Achmad Ridho, President Director of CV Sinergi Permata Semesta, confirmed that his team would conduct pre-operational inspections and maintenance before the bridge opens to the public. He committed to making the Bromo Glass Bridge operational in time for the school holiday season at the end of June. Ridho, who also serves as General Manager of The Lawu Group, emphasised that operations would strictly follow standard operating procedures set by the Centre for Geotechnics, Tunnels and Structures to guarantee visitor safety, drawing on the company’s experience operating a glass bridge at Kemuning Sky Hills in Central Java.
Beyond safety, the operator pledged to preserve the conservation area and empower local communities, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Bromo region. The signing of the management agreement is expected to establish the Bromo Glass Bridge as a new tourist attraction that increases visitor numbers to the area while delivering a positive economic impact for the people of Probolinggo.
