Bromo Access Partially Closed Due to Bantengan Block Forest Fire

The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) Agency has partially closed tourist access to Mount Bromo from the Jemplang and Coban Trisula entrances in Malang Regency, as well as Senduro in Lumajang Regency, due to a forest fire in the Bantengan Block. TNBTS Agency Head Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha stated that the decision to close several access points to Bromo was made to maximise firefighting efforts and ensure the safety of all tourists. “To facilitate the firefighting efforts and considering visitor safety, tourist visits to Bromo via the Jemplang, Coban Trisula, and Senduro entrances are closed to visitors,” Rudi said. The closure of the three access points took effect today at 22.00 WIB for an unspecified period. Based on initial information received from the TNBTS Agency, the forest fire in the Bantengan Block occurred around 17.00 WIB. Rudi noted that the public can still access the Mount Bromo area through several other entrances, namely from Cemoro Lawang in Probolinggo Regency and Wonokitri in Pasuruan Regency. However, visitors are only permitted to access the tourist area up to the Sea of Sand and are not allowed to proceed to the Savana area. He urged all residents, tourists, and tourism service providers to protect the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area by carrying out activities in accordance with applicable regulations. “Pay attention to the use of fire for the safety, security, and comfort of all,” he said. Meanwhile, TNBTS Agency Public Relations Officer Endrip Wahyutama said it was not yet possible to confirm the extent of the area in the Bantengan Block that had been burned. “There is nothing yet; the team is currently still focused on the extinguishing process. After the fire is successfully extinguished and conditions are declared safe, a team will conduct measurements to determine the extent of the affected area,” Endrip stated.
