Broken hearted boy hangs himself

A 19-year-old school boy committed suicide by hanging himself
at Kramat sub-district, Central Java Tuesday night.

His neighbors found Syamsudin, alias Udin, hanging by a sarong
tied to the branch of a tree, Pos Kota reported.

According to the deceased's father, Atjun, 69, his son had
been quite depressed a few days before he decided to take his own
life. His decision came after his relationship with his girl
friend ended, the daily said.

Atjun said the relationship between Udin, the sixth of his
eight children, and a girl, Fransisca, who lives in the same
neighborhood, had been going on for about a year.

They reportedly broke up because the girl's grandmother did
not approve of their relationship.

The police officers who handled the case found a suicide note
near the tree. On the note Udin wrote that he was forced to take
his own life "because I could not live without my beloved
Fransisca."(bas)
