Broadway show by RP artists

JAKARTA (JP): Repertory Philippines, a theater group from the Philippines, will present a lively musical revue of the most popular songs from Broadway tonight and tomorrow.

In the 75-minute performance of Broadway Showstoppers, eight singers from the group will give life to several hit songs such as Music on the Night and All I Ask of You (Phantom of the Opera), Solo Saxophone and Sun and Moon (Miss Saigon), On my Own, Why God, and Stars (Les Miserables) and several from Evita, Starlight Express and Joseph the Dreamer.

Repertory Philippines, which just completed its tour of major European capitals, has been widely credited for the development of Filipino theater talent since its beginning more than thirty years ago. It is best known for its local productions of highly popular Broadway plays such as Evita, West Side Story, Camelot, The Sound of Music, The King and I, Chorus Line, Annie, Les Miserables and My Fair Lady.

The shows are being organized under the auspices of the Philippine Embassy cultural exchange program, the Setia Kawan Foundation and the Philippine Women's Association of Jakarta. (sim)
