JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Videographer Amsal Christy Sitepu appeared at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (2/4/2026), after being acquitted in the markup case for the village profile video production project.

Kompas.com observations at the location showed Amsal arriving wearing a white shirt.

He appeared to be smiling broadly upon arriving at the DPR building.

Amsal was seen being welcomed by Deputy Chairman of Commission III DPR, Rano Al Fath.

Amsal stated that he had just flown in from Medan, North Sumatra, at 10:00 WIB earlier.

Afterwards, he would meet with the prosecutor who had charged him at Commission III DPR.

“Wow, I’m so happy, I can’t even put it into words, I’m really delighted, thank you to my friends for their support, keep supporting me, let’s monitor it until everything is resolved,” added Amsal.

Previously, Chairman of Commission III DPR Habiburokhman revealed that they had summoned the Head of the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office, Danke Rajagukguk, the Prosecutorial Commission (Komjak), the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office, and videographer Amsal Christy Sitepu on Thursday afternoon (2/4/2026).

Commission III DPR will hold a general opinion hearing (RDPU) with those parties regarding the corruption case of the village profile video production project that once implicated Amsal Sitepu.

It is known that on Wednesday (1/4/2026), Commission III DPR detected dirty tactics in the form of misleading narratives or propaganda from the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office after Amsal was acquitted.

Habiburokhman explained that the propaganda related to allegations of opinion steering regarding the request for detention suspension by Commission III, which was accused of not following procedure.

“There is a narrative built by the Prosecutor’s Office there, by the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office, which is indeed misleading. Among them related to the detention suspension. The detention suspension is a request from Commission III, a request in wording, which was granted by the judge. A court product, granted by the court,” said Habiburokhman during a press conference at the DPR RI building on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

“It should have been, when it was granted, Amsal wouldn’t return to the detention centre (prison) again. He should have been released right then. But our colleague Mr Hinca Panjaitan had to wait several hours, waiting for the prosecutor from the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office to come and sign the file, and they created propaganda as if we violated the procedure, whereas it was they who went far beyond the substantive procedure,” he stated.
