Bro Ron of PSI Agrees to Peace: What Happened Was 100% Miscommunication
Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Ronald A. Sinaga, known as Bro Ron, stated that the assault incident involving him was triggered by a miscommunication issue.
Bro Ron said this was revealed after he met with Randi and Ical along with their legal representatives. It is known that Randi and Ical are the parties reported by Bro Ron regarding the assault case he experienced.
“What happened on the ground can be said to be 100 per cent miscommunication after knowing the sequence of events, why we were there, why Bang Randi was there, why Bang Ical was there. Oh, it turns out we were not there to be enemies. Pure miscommunication,” he told reporters on Thursday (7/5).
Bro Ron admitted that the report he filed was not immediately intended for law enforcement proceedings. He claimed the step was taken to understand the sequence of events before the assault occurred.
“Once again, I want to emphasise, that is not my goal because I already know the sequence from the beginning. Yes, I emphasise again, because I already know the sequence from the beginning, why we were there, why Bang Ical was there, why Bang Randi was there, I emphasise the conclusion is that we are still brothers,” he said.
On that basis, Bro Ron agreed to resolve the assault case peacefully through a restorative justice (RJ) process.
“This decision I took, yes, restorative justice because I already know in detail from discussions with the family side and our team,” he said.
On the same occasion, Abubakar Refra, the legal representative of Randi and Ical, also stated that the assault incident was triggered by a misunderstanding. Therefore, they agreed to resolve the case through the RJ process.
“In the end, one conclusion is that there was miscommunication, misunderstanding, and so on. On that basis, for the sake of our togetherness despite differences, we agreed to end this by submitting RJ to the Menteng Police Sector which has the authority to handle this case and alhamdulillah everything is being processed,” he said.
Previously, the Head of the Menteng Metro Police Sector, AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu, confirmed that both parties had agreed to resolve the case through restorative justice (RJ).
“That on this afternoon both parties have submitted a case resolution process through the restorative justice mechanism. With the basis that both parties have forgiven each other and acknowledged mistakes and forgiven each other,” said Braiel to reporters on Thursday (7/5).
Braiel explained that both parties had also withdrawn the reports they filed. He said that currently, his side is still processing the RJ submitted by both.
“Furthermore, regarding the legal process from the police reports of both parties, we will complete and resolve through the procedural mechanism of restorative justice case resolution,” he said.
