British Typhoon Fighter Jets Deployed to Qatar
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said four Typhoon fighter jets were deployed to Qatar amid the widening Middle East conflict. Citing AFP and Al Jazeera on Friday, 6 March 2026, Starmer announced the jets were to bolster the UK’s defence posture in the region. The jets would join British forces already stationed in Qatar. ‘To strengthen our defence operations in Qatar and across the region,’ Starmer said at a press conference. Speaking at Downing Street, Starmer said Britain had moved defence assets, including air defence systems, to Qatar in January and February to ensure the troops were in a state of high readiness ahead of any potential escalation. Starmer also said Britain had used aerial refuelling aircraft to support allied operations and that London was responding to further requests for assistance from partners in the region.
