British school's IB diplomas

JAKARTA (JP): The British International School (BIS) in Bintaro has awarded diplomas to 14 of 15 International Baccalaureate (IB) students, the school headmaster said yesterday.

John Birchall said in a statement that the IB diploma is the international matriculation requirement to enter universities.

"These BIS students will now be attending universities in many parts of the world, including Britain, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Malaysia," he said.

Gisela Quast topped this year's examination with 40 points scoring seven (top score) in English, French and geography, followed by Tamara Brunskill, Harriet Quast and Roshan Vaswani, he said.

BIS, which was established in Jakarta 24 years ago, has thus far focused on teaching primary and lower secondary students, he said. (hhr)
