British National Who Went Viral for Refusing to Pay at a Restaurant in Menteng to be Deported

In a widely circulated video, the British man is seen being chased by cafe staff. He refused to pay and continued walking when asked for payment.

“Hey, payment…payment,” said a man in the video, as seen by detikcom on Thursday (4 June 2026).

However, the foreigner refused to pay his bill. The staff chasing him then asked for the reason.

“Because I built your country, look at those buildings, look at those shops, look at how the luxury of five-star hotels came here. Leave me alone,” said the foreigner, shouting in English.

As reported by Antara, immigration officials have intervened in the matter. The man, a British national with the initials ZNB, has now been secured.

“We received information that a foreign national was staying in a hotel in the Tanah Abang area. Based on this information, we pursued and apprehended him,” said the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, DK Jakarta, Pamuji Raharja, as reported by Antara.

The immigration authorities immediately conducted an investigation at the location, a restaurant in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta. The investigation revealed that the foreigner was staying in a hotel in the Tanah Abang area.

“From this investigation, it was discovered that the foreign national, with the initials ZNB, was from the UK,” added Pamuji.

Immigration officers also traced ZNB’s travel data to Indonesia. Based on this data, it was found that ZNB arrived in Indonesia after landing at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar, Bali, on 16 April 2028, and he had been staying in a hotel in the Tanah Abang area since 21 May 2026.

ZNB has now been handed over to the Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) and will be deported to his home country.
