The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office has once again secured an international fugitive listed on Interpol’s Red Notice at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. The British national with initials SL, aged 45, was detained by officers during immigration checks upon his arrival in Bali from the Singapore-Denpasar flight on Sunday (29/3/2026). Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, explained that the arrest was carried out after the immigration system detected the individual’s identity as an international fugitive. “The suspect was secured during the immigration inspection process upon arrival in Bali from the Singapore-Denpasar flight, after the system identified him as a Red Notice Interpol subject,” Bugie stated when confirmed on Sunday (29/3/2026). Based on data and intelligence coordination, SL is suspected of being the leader of an international criminal organisation. He is alleged to have played a role in controlling a network that operates fictitious companies and commits money laundering crimes. In response to this success, Bugie emphasised that Bali will not be a safe haven for cross-border criminals. “Our system is well integrated, and our officers are highly experienced in detecting and securing Interpol fugitives,” he asserted. He noted that the success of this interception demonstrates that the early warning system and coordination between Immigration and international law enforcement networks are running effectively, preventing fugitives in serious crime cases from easily entering Indonesian territory. Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, also appreciated the performance of the field officers. After being secured in the international arrival area, the Ngurah Rai Immigration handed over SL to the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Resort Police for further legal handling in accordance with international fugitive handover procedures.
