BritAma indoor court launched

JAKARTA: The BritAma Arena, an indoor venue in the Kelapa Gading Sportsmall in North Jakarta, was officially launched on Monday.

The arena, sponsored by state-owned Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) for a 15-year contract, is the first in Jakarta to meet international standards, said developer Boy Tohir.

Aside from an indoor basketball court and 3,809 permanent seats, which can be expanded to a capacity of 5,000 seats, the sports venue has an athlete dormitory, VIP rooms, and a locker room. It will be the home base of clubs Satria Muda BritAma and Mahaputri BritAma.

The venue can also be used for concerts and other sports like boxing, badminton, or futsal, and other functions.

The Kelapa Gading Sportsmall was built in 2002 and officiated in September 2003 by Governor Sutiyoso. The sportsmall also houses shops, restaurants, as well as bank stalls. -- JP
