Britain Will Not Join US Blockade in the Strait of Hormuz

Istanbul - Britain will not participate in the United States’ blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, according to local media reports, following US President Donald Trump’s announcement that he intends to blockade the shipping route. A government spokesperson stated that Britain continues to support freedom of navigation and the continued openness of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for the global economy and domestic living costs. “The Strait of Hormuz must not be subjected to tolls,” the official said, as quoted by Sky News. He added that Britain is working urgently with France and other partners to build a coalition to maintain freedom of navigation. Trump had previously claimed that Britain would send minesweepers to help clear the strait.
