Britain eyes RI project

HONG KONG (Reuter): Britain's Export Credit Guarantee
Department (ECGD) is negotiating project financing deals in
Indonesia, India and China, said Nancy Cowie, senior underwriter
for China/Hong Kong.

In the last year, more than 25 project applicants for limited
recourse finance support were reviewed by the ECGD, with the bulk
of them projects in the Asia-Pacific area, Cowie told a banking
conference in Hong Kong.

"This is a trend which we are prepared to respond to and
support as the countries in this region and others develop the
appropriate environment to allow the prospects for private sector
financing to become a reality," she said.
