Britain Ambiguous on King Charles's Visit to the US
Washington (ANTARA) - The British government has responded ambiguously to King Charles III’s visit to the United States, where some officials consider the trip a duty, while others believe it could have a negative impact. “He (King Charles) must go. Not going to the US would worsen relations (between the US and Britain),” a British official told The Washington Post on Monday. The official is concerned about the unpredictable attitude of US President Donald Trump during the meeting with King Charles. “You can never guess what this president (Donald Trump) will do or say when he’s next to him, but the King (Charles) has a very calm facial expression,” said the official. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s team believes King Charles III has the ability to maintain a calm aristocratic attitude and avoid bad situations, according to the report. King Charles III’s trip to the US begins on Monday. Charles will meet Trump informally. Then, on Tuesday (28/4), King Charles will deliver a speech to the US Congress.
