Brit abducts son in custody case
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): A 25-year-old British woman, involved in a child custody battle with a Malaysian artist, has abducted her son from right under the noses of the police, reports said yesterday.
The estranged husband Ismail Ariffin said that he had left Jane Brummitt, alias Aishah Jane Abdullah, with their two-year- old son, Sunni Sazali, to buy some food during their weekly meetings at a police station in northern Penang state.
But Ismail said both mother and son were missing when he returned some two hours later. He immediately lodged a police report.
The tussle for Sunni Sazali came to light last October when the local press highlighted how Ismail spent 33 hours crossing borders in Europe to bring his son back to Kuala Lumpur.
