Brisk Sales: Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Pre-orders Break Record
Samsung has recorded a new achievement for its latest flagship smartphone line, the Galaxy S26 series. Pre-orders for the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra in South Korea reportedly reached 1.35 million units in just one week. This figure marks the highest record for the Galaxy S series in history, surpassing the Galaxy S25 series from last year, which recorded approximately 1.3 million pre-orders.
Of the three models launched—the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra—the Ultra model proved to be the most sought-after. For comparison, in the previous generation, the Galaxy S25 Ultra accounted for only around 52 per cent of total pre-orders.
Consumer enthusiasm for the Galaxy S26 Ultra is driven by several enhancements compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. One of the most prominent features is Privacy Display, a screen technology that limits the viewing angle so that people nearby cannot easily see the display contents. This feature is claimed to be the first of its kind in the smartphone industry.
In terms of performance, the handset is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, a custom chipset that reportedly delivers a 39 per cent improvement in neural processing unit (NPU) performance compared to its predecessor.
Samsung also revealed the most popular colour choices among consumers during the pre-order period. For the Galaxy S26 Ultra and base model Galaxy S26, black and white emerged as the most popular options. Meanwhile, for the Galaxy S26+, consumers predominantly ordered the black and violet variants.
Following the conclusion of the pre-order period, the Galaxy S26 series will launch officially and become available in stores from Wednesday, 18 March 2026 in several regions, including South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, and India, according to reports from South Korean media outlet Yonhap News Agency. Samsung Indonesia was contacted on Monday, 16 March 2026 to provide further information regarding the Galaxy S26 series performance in Indonesia during the pre-order period that began on 25 February. The report will be updated once Samsung Indonesia responds.
