PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk recorded a net profit of Rp15.5 trillion in the first quarter of 2026. This achievement represents a 13.74% increase compared to the same period last year. “Up to the end of the first quarter of 2026, we continue to show positive results,” said BRI President Director Hery Gunardi during the BRI First Quarter 2026 Financial Performance Media Briefing held online on Thursday (30/4/2026). This performance was supported by interest income growth reaching Rp52.83 trillion, up 5.94% year-on-year. At the same time, interest expenses fell 9.31% to Rp12.68 trillion, thereby widening the bank’s net interest margin. On the credit disbursement side, BRI booked total credit and financing of around Rp1,497 trillion on a consolidated basis as of March 2026, growing about 13% from the previous year. This disbursement was supported, among others, by People’s Business Credit (KUR) amounting to Rp47.09 trillion to around 947,000 customers. In addition, housing financing through the FLPP scheme reached Rp17.13 trillion for around 125,000 debtors. This credit growth directly impacts society, particularly small business actors and the housing sector, which are BRI’s main financing focuses. Broader financing access opens up business expansion opportunities and home ownership for low- to middle-income communities. However, amid this expansion, credit quality shows pressure. The gross non-performing loan (NPL) ratio rose to 3.31% from around 3% previously. Meanwhile, net NPL also increased to 1.01%. This rise reflects the growing risks alongside the aggressiveness of credit disbursement.
