Bripka Dedy, 'Sniper' Backing Samarinda Drug Village, Detained
The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri) has detained former East Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kaltim) Mobile Brigade (Brimob) member Bripka Dedy Wiratama, who played a role in backing the drug village of Gang Langgar in Samarinda. The Director of Drug Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, stated that the detention was carried out by investigators after examining Dedy today, Friday (5/6). “The person concerned has been detained at the Bareskrim Police Detention Centre,” he told reporters. Eko mentioned that the examination of Dedy was only recently conducted as they were waiting for the ethical process to run its course. He said that from the results of the ethics trial, Dedy was proven to have committed a serious violation, namely backing a drug village in Samarinda. “The person concerned has been sentenced to a dishonourable discharge (PTDH) by the Professional and Internal Security Division (Propam) of the East Kalimantan Regional Police because he was proven to have committed a serious violation,” he explained. He added that through this examination, investigators will delve deeper into Dedy’s role in the activities that occurred in the Gang Langgar area, Samarinda Seberang. The area is known as one of the narcotics trafficking hotspots in the East Kalimantan region. Besides examining the person concerned, investigators will also trace the possibility of other parties’ involvement connected to the narcotics distribution network at the location. “The investigation is conducted through witness examinations, analysis of evidence, and tracing communication and transaction flows suspected of being related to drug trafficking activities,” he stated. Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the East Kalimantan Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Yuliyanto, said that from the results of the Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) hearing, Dedy was proven to have consumed methamphetamine-type narcotics. The verdict was read out at the KKEP Hearing held in Balikpapan on Tuesday (2/6). In its ruling, the Panel declared Dedy committed a violation in the form of methamphetamine-type narcotics abuse. He noted that several pieces of evidence were also taken into consideration, including urine test results, documentation of urine examinations, attendance recaps, and a history of disciplinary penalties imposed on the person concerned in 2016 and 2023.
