Bripda P Undergoes Ethics Hearing in Case of Bripda DP's Death
Bripda P, the senior officer suspected of assaulting junior officer Bripda DP (19) to death in the South Sulawesi Police Academy barracks area, is undergoing an ethics hearing.
“The agenda now involves examination of the suspect, Bripda P, and witnesses,” said Didik Supranoto, Head of Public Relations at the South Sulawesi Police Regional Command (Polda Sulsel), on Monday, 2 March.
Didik explained that 14 witnesses will be examined in the ethics hearing. The witnesses are individuals who were at the location when the alleged assault took place.
“The witnesses being examined today number 14. Currently, we are focused on witness examination,” he stated.
The ethics panel will also examine each statement provided and the role of witnesses during the incident.
“Naturally, in this assault hearing, the ethics panel will examine the role of each witness and what they witnessed when the incident occurred. That is what will be explored during this hearing,” he explained.
Investigators from the South Sulawesi Police Regional Command have examined eight individuals as witnesses in connection with the death of Bripda DP (19), who allegedly suffered violence whilst in the Samapta barracks of the South Sulawesi Police Academy.
In this case, investigators have named one person as a suspect: Bripda P, who is the victim’s senior.
“From the ongoing investigation process, eight individuals have been examined as witnesses related to the victim,” said South Sulawesi Police Chief General Djuhandhani Raharjo Puro on Thursday, 26 February.
This two-star general explained that of the eight witnesses examined, four shared sleeping quarters with the victim in the barracks.
“These four witnesses stated that on that night, the victim did not sleep inside the barracks, but rather slept separately outside with other colleagues,” he said.
According to Djuhandhani, the eight witnesses showed no direct involvement in the killing of Bripda DP, based on investigators’ findings so far.
“We are still investigating, but there are two individuals suspected or subject to disciplinary and ethics procedures. We observed that an officer named Bripda MS cleaned up blood to conceal knowledge of the incident,” he explained.
