Bripda Nopandri, who went missing during a drug eradication operation in Tumbang Kalemei Village, Katingan Tengah District, Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan, has been found dead. The Directorate of Drug Crimes at the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) extended its deepest condolences. Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Drug Crimes at Bareskrim, stated on Saturday (4/7/2026) that the late officer fell while on duty and expressed hopes that his family would be granted fortitude and strength. He emphasised that the incident is being taken seriously by Bareskrim and that a joint team is working to fully investigate the matter. The police are continuing to pursue the suspected perpetrators and have pledged not to stop until all are arrested and processed according to the law. Bareskrim is coordinating with the Central Kalimantan Regional Police and the Katingan Police in the investigation and manhunt, and has urged the public to provide any information that could assist the inquiry. The police have committed to a thorough investigation to deliver justice for the fallen officer. The incident began when the Katingan Police narcotics unit followed up on public information regarding suspected methamphetamine distribution in Tumbang Kalemei. The investigation led to a target with the initials BIO, a repeat drug offender. A team of 12 personnel was deployed and split into two groups. While the primary team managed to apprehend the target, other individuals inside the house and local residents fought back using machetes. The mob reportedly grew in size and attacked the officers with sharp weapons and homemade firearms. As the situation spiralled out of control, the officers attempted to retreat and called for reinforcements, with some swimming across a river and hiding in the forest to escape the mob. Aipda Yudhie was found dead from sharp weapon injuries, while Aiptu Sumaryanto and Bripda Nopandri were initially reported missing before Nopandri was later confirmed dead.
