BRIN trials cassava flour for forest and land fire suppression
The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), together with the Indonesian National Police (Polri), is currently conducting trials and scientific studies on the use of cassava flour for extinguishing forest and land fires (Karhutla). BRIN head Arif Satria revealed at the Presidential Palace on Friday (28/8) that the method of extinguishing forest and land fires using cassava flour, which had previously been practised by communities and brought to attention by the National Police chief, has proven scientifically plausible. A team of molecular chemistry experts at BRIN has conducted a theoretical study to validate the effectiveness of the method.
