BRIN Produces Rubber Shoes for IDR 80,000, Prabowo Places an Order

Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Arif Satria showcased shoes made by BRIN during a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (6/8).

Arif said BRIN has produced rubber-based shoes at an affordable price. According to him, President Prabowo has even placed an order.

“These are BRIN shoes, a local product. The President has also ordered them, saying ‘BRIN, please make something that can solve the shoe problem,’” Arif said at the location.

Arif said the shoes are a BRIN product made in Serpong.

He said the price varies depending on the design and materials, ranging from around Rp75,000 to over Rp100,000.

“The price is cheap, less than Rp80,000,” he said.

Arif said BRIN is currently seeking industrial partners to enter a larger production phase.

He said the future development of the shoes is aimed at helping meet footwear needs for students at Sekolah Rakyat schools.

“Yes, indeed, we will direct it towards helping Sekolah Rakyat,” Arif said.

On the same day, around 150 BRIN researchers met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (6/8).

Arif Satria said the researchers will present BRIN’s findings to solve national problems.

“We will present the overall picture from the 12 clusters: food issues, food research, energy research, research to support our products for fishing villages, our products for MBG, as well as space research, aviation research, nuclear research, rare earth metals research, housing research, transport research, and health research,” Arif said.
