The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is preparing 177 research topics to serve as the basis for national policy formulation. Head of BRIN Arif Satria stated in Jakarta on Saturday that all of these research topics will be implemented in 2026. The topics were gathered through a forum with ministry secretary-generals to identify the research needed to support policy development. “In 2026, we will have 177 development policy research topics. We obtained these topics through a forum with all ministry secretary-generals to convey the research needs, so that our policy research is based on the needs of the ministries,” he said. In addition, BRIN is strengthening sports research through the establishment of a Sports Research Organisation and enhancing collaboration with universities. Arif hopes this step will encourage the development of national sports based on science. “BRIN is establishing a Sports Research Organisation and we are strengthening it with a Research Collaboration Centre with universities, so that in the future our sports development will be science-based,” he stated. He expressed hope that BRIN will continue to strengthen its role as the main reference in research, innovation, and data-based policy formulation, as well as becoming a think tank utilised not only by the House of Representatives but also by various ministries and institutions.
