BRIN Prepares 177 Research Topics to Underpin National Policy Formulation

Jakarta (ANTARA) — The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is preparing 177 research topics to serve as the basis for formulating national policy.

BRIN Head Arif Satria, in a statement issued in Jakarta on Saturday, said all of the research topics would be carried out in 2026. The topics were compiled through forums with the secretaries general of the ministries to identify research needs supporting policy formulation.

“By 2026 we already have 177 research topics on development policy. We obtained these topics through a forum with all the ministry secretaries general to convey the research needs required, so that the policy research we conduct is based on the needs of the ministries,” he said.

In addition, BRIN is strengthening research in the field of sport through the establishment of a Sports Research Organisation as well as enhancing collaboration with universities.

Arif expressed hope that this step would promote the development of national sport grounded in science.

“BRIN is currently establishing a Sports Research Organisation, and we are reinforcing it with a Collaborative Research Centre with universities, so that our sporting endeavours in the future will be based on science,” he said.

He expressed hope that BRIN would continue to strengthen its role as the primary reference for research-, innovation- and data-based policy formulation, whilst also serving as a think tank that can be utilised not only by the House of Representatives (DPR) but also by various ministries and agencies.

“Because our aspiration is for BRIN to become a think tank not only for the legislature, but certainly also for various other ministries and institutions,” said Hetifah.
