BRIN Partners with State-Owned Enterprise to Strengthen Research for Industrial Competitiveness

The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has entered into a strategic partnership with PT Inspeksi Sertifikasi dan Survey Indonesia (Persero), or IDSurvey, to accelerate the downstreaming of research and strengthen the competitiveness of national industry through innovation development. The collaboration was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding on research, innovation, and the utilisation of research facilities in the fields of testing, inspection, certification, consultancy, classification, and statutory services. The agreement was signed by Head of BRIN, Arief Satria, and President Director of IDSurvey, Arisudono. The partnership aims to strengthen the national research ecosystem through the sharing of expertise, joint use of facilities, human resource development, and the strengthening of innovation to meet industrial needs. As a state-owned holding company for survey services engaged in Testing, Inspection, Certification, Consultation, Classification, and Statutory Services (TICCCS), IDSurvey will play a role in the testing, validation, inspection, certification, and classification of research outputs to ensure they meet both national and international standards. Through this role, the downstreaming process of innovation is expected to proceed more quickly, credibly, and provide added value for businesses and the public. The scope of cooperation covers various strategic fields, including life sciences and environment, earth and maritime, agriculture and food, health, energy, manufacturing, electronics, informatics, nanotechnology, materials, aviation, space, nuclear energy, as well as social sciences, humanities, governance, economics, and public welfare. In addition, both parties will collaborate on the utilisation of research facilities and the development of human resource competencies, along with other innovation programmes. Arief assessed that collaboration between research institutions and industry is a crucial step to ensure that research outputs can address real-world needs. “Through the shared use of resources, facilities, and expertise owned by each party, we hope that research outputs will become more relevant to industrial needs, provide added value, and contribute to enhancing national competitiveness and development,” said Arief. Meanwhile, Arisudono stated that the synergy will serve as a bridge between research outputs and their implementation in the industrial sector, ensuring that resulting innovations do not stop at the research stage. “This collaboration accelerates the validation and downstreaming process of innovation so that research outputs do not merely become knowledge, but can also provide tangible benefits for industry, society, and national development,” said Arisudono. Through this partnership, IDSurvey and BRIN are committed to building an integrated innovation ecosystem, from the research stage and validation process to implementation, in order to support the improvement of national industrial competitiveness.
