The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is encouraging all university students in Indonesia to deepen their interest in research through the BRIN Internship Programme, aiming to produce research talent that is competitive on the global stage.

During a socialisation event for the 2026 BRIN Internship Programme in Jakarta on Thursday, BRIN’s Director of Talent Management, Ajeng Arum Sari, stated that research activities provide unlimited space for students to actualise their intellectual abilities. “When we become researchers, we can actualise our intellectual capabilities and also map out our careers up to the level of principal researcher, for example becoming a research professor,” Ajeng Arum Sari said.

Ajeng outlined three main reasons why students should begin their research journey at BRIN. First, the availability of comprehensive infrastructure, ranging from space research facilities to underground facilities, housed under 12 research organisations and 87 research centres.

She further emphasised that the internship serves as a gateway to integrated national talent development. After completing the six-month internship, students are encouraged to immediately continue with their final research project to accelerate their graduation from university.

For those who choose a career path as a researcher, BRIN has also prepared a continuing ecosystem, including research competitions, postgraduate scholarships (Degree by Research), doctoral scholarships for research talent, and post-doctoral programmes that can lead to civil servant (ASN) status at BRIN.

Based on the timeline for the odd semester of the 2026/2027 academic year, registration for the BRIN Internship Programme will be open from 2 to 17 July 2026. After completing the administrative and substantive selection stages, the names of successful participants will be announced on 5 August 2026, with the internship running from 18 August 2026 to 11 January 2027.
