BRIN Invites Industry to Collaborate and Leverage Domestic Research
Jakarta – The Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Arif Satria has invited industry partners to leverage domestic research results to enhance innovation development and accelerate technology commercialisation in Indonesia.
At the BRIN Goes to Industry event in Jakarta on Thursday, 26 February 2026, Arif highlighted the crucial role of the private sector in advancing domestic innovation.
“The private sector as market players certainly understands the existing needs well, understands efficiency levels, economic viability, and financial viability, which are precisely two things the private sector masters and requires in this collaboration,” he said.
Arif noted a phenomenon whereby potential investors decline to invest in domestic companies because they have not yet obtained technology validation for the products to be marketed.
“So the validation process is what I refer to as technology incubation, because there are technologies that may need refinement, technologies that need to be enhanced, technologies that need further improvement. That is where BRIN’s role becomes very important to jointly understand the specific needs of industry,” he explained.
For this reason, Arif invited all industry partners to collaborate with BRIN, including through the Indonesian Innovation House, which is open to anyone wishing to engage in collaboration.
He emphasised that this step must be taken to accelerate technology and industrial commercialisation, which is expected to improve the welfare of the Indonesian people.
“We hope to accelerate the process of utilising technology and research inventions at BRIN for use by the public, by industry, for the benefit of society, for business purposes, and for government purposes,” Arif Satria stated.
The BRIN Goes to Industry event also included dialogue with the Head of BRIN and was attended by representatives from 50 industry partners.
During the dialogue, industry partners were given the opportunity to provide input regarding their experience in conducting licensing cooperation with BRIN, the benefits obtained, and the challenges faced in the process of utilising and commercialising licensed products.
