The Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Arif Satria, has called on the Indonesian Association of Communication Science Lecturers and Researchers (ADPIKI) to serve as an energiser or charger for its members. This was stated during the Declaration, Inauguration of the Board, National Symposium, and National Work Meeting of ADPIKI in Bogor on Thursday, 7 May 2026.

“A charger is only created through trust from all members. Thus, everyone will have positive energy to move forward,” Arif said in an official statement on Thursday.

According to Arif, professional organisations like ADPIKI need to create added value for the lecturers and researchers who are members. In this way, members will feel they receive real benefits and be motivated to actively contribute to the organisation. “If lecturers and researchers feel they receive added value, they will be active in that organisation,” he said.

Arif also emphasised the importance of synergy between university research communities and the national research agenda. He stated that research results should not stop at administrative reports but must produce real impacts in the form of policy solutions, industry strengthening, and improved public welfare.

He appreciated ADPIKI’s step in positioning communication science as a strategic bridge between knowledge, professions, and public spaces amid the challenges of the digital era and science-based policy transformation.

The event in Bogor began with the declaration of ADPIKI as a professional organisation that promotes original, credible, and impactful research. The organisation also expressed its desire to strengthen the academic authority of communication science lecturers in an increasingly data- and innovation-based higher education ecosystem.

The series of events continued with the inauguration of ADPIKI’s board, a National Symposium featuring professors and communication science experts, and a national work meeting to map out the organisation’s programme roadmap. Several strategic issues discussed in the symposium included media ecology, public policy communication, digital communication ethics, and strengthening public media literacy.

ADPIKI General Chair Heru Budianto said that communication lecturers and researchers must not stop at the role of educators but must elevate themselves to become recognised references through scientific works and research that benefit society, industry, and the nation.

On the same occasion, ADPIKI also signed a memorandum of understanding with PT Info Media Digital (Tempo.co) and four other partners. The signing of the cooperation agreement in the fields of education, research, and community service was done symbolically by General Chair Heru Budianto together with representatives of the partners.
