BRIN Head Awards Gift to High-Achieving Junior High Student in Cybersecurity
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Arif Satria, presented an appreciation gift in the form of a premium tablet to Firoos Ghatfaan Ramadhan (14), an eighth-grade student at SMP IT Aalamy in Subang, West Java, for his achievement in the field of cybersecurity.
In a statement in Jakarta on Thursday, the BRIN Head explained that Firoos had previously earned a place in NASA’s Hall of Fame after discovering a vulnerability in an external link and reporting it as part of efforts to improve the system.
The finding was not misused but was responsibly conveyed to the relevant parties.
“Alhamdulillah, today I had the opportunity to visit SMP IT Aalamy in Subang and meet young Firoos. He is one of the eighth-grade students who successfully obtained Hall of Fame recognition from NASA for finding a vulnerability in NASA’s external link,” he said.
Arif assessed that Firoos’s decision to report the system vulnerability rather than exploit it serves as an important example for the younger generation.
Arif hopes that this appreciation in the form of a tablet will serve as encouragement for Firoos to continue studying and creating.
On the other hand, BRIN is also continuously encouraging the emergence of young talents in the field of research and innovation, as part of efforts to realise a more advanced Indonesia.
“So we are giving appreciation to Firoos, and insya Allah, Firoos will become a great person, a beneficial person, and capable of making Indonesia even greater and more advanced,” said Arif Satria.
