BRIN Discovers New 'Mountain of Gold' in Papua, President Prabowo: Our Future Is Very Bright

President Prabowo Subianto revealed that a cross-agency expedition team led by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has discovered gold reserves and a number of new mineral deposits in a mountainous area of Papua. Prabowo asserted that Indonesia’s future is very bright.

The new discovery was reported only hours before the President delivered his speech at the B50 mandate launch event at the KM 57 Rest Area of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday (9/7/2026). “Our scientific expedition has only just begun, if I’m not mistaken, it has only been running for two or three weeks in the mountains of Papua. The team from BRIN, together with several universities and assisted by the TNI, has discovered gold reserves and very large mineral deposits,” said Prabowo at the B50 launch event, in front of a number of state officials and business representatives.

The President therefore invited all parties to build the same sense of optimism about Indonesia’s future. We must, the President said, protect the Indonesian nation.

“Our future is very good, very bright. It is now up to us to keep building, to continue what our predecessors have started. To protect our nation, protect our Republic, uphold goodness and reduce wrongdoing. We must put an end to corruption, put an end to smuggling, put an end to narcotics, and put an end to online gambling,” said the President.
