BRIN Apologises for Garuda Design Error on Pancasila Day
The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has apologised for a design error in the Garuda image posted on its social media account to mark Pancasila Day on 1 June 2026. “BRIN Indonesia extends its deepest apologies for the error in the Pancasila Day commemorative content we shared,” the agency stated on its official Instagram account @brin_indonesia on Monday (1/6). BRIN said the mistake would serve as a lesson to be more meticulous, careful, and cautious in content creation and dissemination in future. “As part of our accountability and internal review, the content has been corrected,” BRIN added. BRIN thanked the public for their input and oversight. “We express our gratitude for the attention, feedback, and oversight from all segments of society towards BRIN,” the agency concluded. BRIN’s post featuring the Garuda image drew criticism from netizens, who noted the design did not meet national emblem specifications. Specific criticisms included incorrect feather counts: the wings were not depicted with 17 feathers, the tail lacked eight, and the neck did not feature 45. Netizens also suspected the design was generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
