Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Ministry of Culture (Kemenbud) are promoting the downstreaming of research results in archaeology, language, and literature to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem and advance the national industry.

Deputy Head of BRIN Amarulla Octavian, at the BRIN Goes To Industry 4 event in Jakarta on Tuesday, explained that culture-focused research integrated with industry needs has a very promising economic value in the global market.

“Need feedback from the industry to improve the quality of research and innovation that is ongoing and produced so as to meet industry needs,” he said.

Amarulla revealed positive notes on transactions based on local raw materials through the international exhibition facility Inacraft 2024, which surpassed IDR 100 billion. In addition, the Ambiente 2024 exhibition in Germany also recorded offers up to hundreds of thousands of US dollars.

In response to this great potential, Deputy Culture Minister (Wamenbud) Giring Ganesha expressed his full support for utilizing cultural assets as the motor of the future creative economy.

Giring affirmed that historic assets such as museums, cultural heritage, and temple sites should no longer be mere dead monuments with little fans. The wealth should be transformed into educational spaces, as well as sources of innovative economic welfare.

“Because the future of culture is not only about protection but also about creation,” said Giring.

Giring views culture and the history of ancestral heritage as source code or the main source code that will continually inspire creators, animators, composers, and programmers in Indonesia in producing world-class works.

Through close collaboration with scientific research institutions and the private sector, he continued, the creation of creative works based on Nusantara’s wealth is expected to immediately realise a national cultural ecosystem that is advanced, strong, and of high economic value.
