A Brimob service vehicle was struck by an Airport Train (KA Bandara) at a level crossing in Tapen Hamlet, Argosari, Sedayu, Bantul, Yogyakarta, on Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 8:15 a.m. WIB when the Isuzu vehicle, driven by Bripka Yudi Saputro, was sideswiped by the train. Bantul Police spokesperson Iptu Rita Hidayanto stated that the driver was approaching from the south and allegedly failed to notice the oncoming train. The crossing is not yet equipped with an operational automatic gate system. Although a post has been built, the safety facilities are only scheduled to become operational next month. Police assessed that the primary cause of the accident was the driver’s lack of vigilance, compounded by the non-functioning crossing gate system. Both the driver and his passenger, Bripda Tommy Priambada, escaped injury. The vehicle sustained minor damage to its front section and has been evacuated to a workshop.
