Police dispersed a convoy of young people in the Cakung area of East Jakarta (Jaktim). They were subjected to action for conducting a convoy whilst carrying flags and firecrackers.

“In this operation, officers secured 23 youths involved in the convoy group,” stated the Commander of the Brimob Detachment of the Metro Jaya Police, Brigadier General Henik Maryanto, on Monday (16/3/2026).

The incident occurred on Sunday evening (15/3). Enforcement action was undertaken after officers received reports from the public regarding a group of youths carrying attributes and firecrackers.

“The patrol team conducting intensified routine activities proceeded directly to the location to carry out prevention measures to avoid potential security and public order disturbances, particularly during the Ramadan atmosphere when public activity from evening to early morning increases,” he explained.

According to him, combined patrols continue to be intensified to prevent potential security disturbances in the community, particularly at night and in several crime-prone areas.

“Convoy activities that have the potential to create hazards will be subject to enforcement in accordance with regulations. Similar activities are frequently encountered during night patrols, so patrol intensification efforts together with territorial ranks continue to be pushed to maintain a safe and conducive situation for the community during Ramadan,” he said.

In the enforcement action, a total of 7 motorcycles were also secured. Additionally, 23 mobile phones, 13 flags, and 1 firecracker were confiscated.

“We urge the public not to become involved in activities that disturb public order and to report potential security disturbances through the 110 call centre,” he concluded.
