DEPOK, KOMPAS.com - Brimob has received intelligence information regarding potential security disruptions resulting from international conflicts that could trigger fluctuations in the prices of essential needs, but all of these can be handled per region.

The Commander of the Indonesian National Police’s Mobile Brigade Corps, Inspector General Ramdani Hidayat, stressed that the handling of mass actions in Indonesia is still manageable by territorial police units (satwil).

“Alhamdulillah, everything is still under control. That’s why I say that the current demonstrations can still be handled by the territorial units,” said Ramdani when met by reporters on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

Nevertheless, he emphasised that the Mobile Brigade Corps remains on alert to anticipate any potential escalation of security disruptions.

In particular, the potential security disruptions being monitored are those triggered by global dynamics, such as the impact of international conflicts on the prices of essential commodities.

“His messages are to expect and order that all Indonesian National Police members, personnel, facilities, infrastructure, and resources of the Mobile Brigade Corps to always be ready,” stated Ramdani.

He explained that potential security disruptions, including those due to rising energy prices, have been mapped out by the National Police’s Intelligence and Security Agency (Baintelkam).

This mapping then serves as the basis for coordination with various police functions and related agencies.

“We receive information from BIK (Intelligence and Security Agency) in the form of intelligence, then we coordinate with the existing functional units, territorial units (Satwil), and also with related agencies,” he said.

On the other hand, Ramdani stressed that the handling of mass actions prioritises a humane approach.

Brimob, he said, is the last force to be deployed if the situation has escalated to riotous actions.

“The handling of masses now does not have to involve violence. We first demonstrate using soft power. There are community guidance units, there are mobile brigade units. So Brimob is the last resort,” he asserted.

He added that his side continues to conduct evaluations and improvements in every activity, including strengthening and modernising equipment as well as enhancing the training system to ensure personnel readiness.
