Jakarta — Five youths found carrying bladed weapons in Ciracas, East Jakarta, have been arrested. The five were apprehended by the 2026 Anti-Brawl Operation Task Force of the Brimob Polda Metro Jaya together with the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police.

According to information received on Monday (16/2/2026), the arrest operation took place on Sunday (15/2). Activities began with a joint roll call before the team moved to sweep a number of vulnerable spots in Cawang, Condet, Pasar Rebo, Cipayung and Ciracas.

Patrols were conducted as a preventive measure against potential clashes that frequently occur during high-risk hours. During an inspection of a group of youths who had gathered, officers discovered bladed weapons suspected of being intended for use in acts of violence. Officers then carried out security measures in accordance with regulations.

From the location, officers also confiscated five mobile phones.

Brimob Polda Metro Jaya Commander Kombes Henik Maryanto said the operation was part of a commitment to maintaining regional stability through the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief’s programme entitled Jaga Jakarta.

The National Police urged the public to play an active role in maintaining the security of their neighbourhoods. Residents can make use of the Call Centre 110 service, which operates around the clock, to report potential disturbances to public order.

Meanwhile, Polda Metro Jaya Public Relations Head Kombes Budi Hermanto urged the public to play an active role in maintaining security in their surrounding areas. “Report through the 110 service if you encounter disturbances to public order,” said Budi Hermanto.
